Katie didn’t have a typical childhood. She was homeschooled until after high school, grew up on a permaculture farm and lived in a yurt without electricity or running water. Later, during her academic and professional career, she focused her interest on gender equality, social inclusion and citizen engagement. Currently, she is working on empowerment projects in Syria and enhancing cross-cultural understanding among “new” and “old“ Dresdeners. Outside of her job, she’s dedicated to establishing an organisation focused on gender equality and diversity within international counter-terrorism.
