Completing a doctoral thesis on the development of algorithms for the sequence design of self-assembling DNA nanostructures (try saying that after a beer!) wasn’t enough for Jan. More recently he has become known for VisorApps; a startup that develops barrier-free software and apps to simplify the lives of blind and visually impaired people. This is made all the more notable by the fact that Jan is, himself, blind. Spurred by his need to adopt entirely unconventional working methods throughout his academic life, he’s now changing the lives of others for the better.
